Guts, the feared Black Swordsman, is on the rampage - and it's personal. Mozgus, the malefic master Inquisitor of the Holy See, in his murderous campaign against heretics, has captured Guts' former lover Casca and has her at the ready to be burned at the stake in the Tower of Conviction, little knowing that Casca's demonic Mark of Sacrifice is drawing hideous dark powers to the Tower. It'll take everything Guts has and more to defeat Mozgus - who is much, much more than a man - and even if he can, will he be able to save Casca from the hordes of Hell amidst the inquisitor's disintegrating citadel?

Excellent series that stands out for uncompromising brutality and dark humour. Definitely recommended.

This series gets better and better, long may it continue! It goes without saying now that the artwork is of an amazing standard, the demons are vile, the heroes huge, violence is graphic and Puck is cute.So Guts is still out to save Casca, heretics are being purged and some creepy egg-thing is clinging to walls....And finally some nasty things go down with the evil Inquisitor Mozgus showing his true colours. His obsession threatens all that is dear to Guts...But Casca's brand of sacrifice is drawing demons ever closer. Plus you get a decent social commentary on the evils of religious fanatacism and mob rule. Of course there is nothing more pleasing than a band of misfit heroes battling together against evil! And someone from Guts past makes possibly the most astounding entrance ever! My mouth was agape! Clue on the cover there.Miura is a genius and I hope this series goes on for many more volumes! Its nice to have a good, umcompromising adult manga that does not bow to any censors. I cannot get enough of giant swords, demons, knights, elves and epic battles. If you like your fantasy full of action and horror this is the series for you. But start at volume one...obviously...
